Assam tea firm at Guwahati sale
Our Bureau
GUWAHATI, Oct. 22
CTC offerings at Guwahati sale No. 42 on October 15 and 16 opened to good general demand which slackened with the progress sale.
Good and brighter liquoring Assams were competed for and sold at firm levels, while medium Assams met with better demand and sold irregular around last. Cleaner leaf Cachars were firm while browner leaf sorts declined following quality. The major blender
was active with good support from Western India for better liquoring varieties.
Godfrey Phillips and Eveready lent fair support on medium varieties. North India and other internal segments operated with better strength on Cachars. CIS and Polish shippers continued their operation on larger brokens.
Dust offerings continued to meet with very selective demand. Medium and better medium sorts were largely neglected and suffered fair withdrawals.
Better liquoring Assam dusts were readily absorbed at lower levels following quality. Cheaper Cachars and plainer Assam dusts were absorbed by internal segments.
The major blender operated on the liquoring dusts with fair support from Western India segments. Tata Tea was very restricted in their purchases. Internal dust buyers operated with fair strength on cheaper Assam and Cachars dusts.
