Dumping duty on yarn, Analgin

NEW DELHI, Oct. 11

THE Union Finance Ministry has imposed provisional anti-dumping duty on all imports of acrylic yarn from Nepal.

Based on the recommendations of the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry in its preliminary findings, the Revenue Department has now imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty of $0.69 per kg on acrylic yarn exported by Reliance Spinning Mills Ltd, Nepal and $0.84 per kg on all other exporters/ producers of Nepal.

The provisional anti-dumping duty has been imposed by the Revenue Department within a fortnight of the recommendation of the Designated Authority.

The petition seeking anti-dumping investigations on acrylic yarn imports from Nepal was filed by Punjab Fibres Ltd, Vardhman Spinning and General Mills Ltd, Sportking India Ltd and Malwa Cotton Spinning Ltd on behalf of the domestic industry.

Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry has also imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on the imports of Analgin from China and Taiwan.

Based on the recommendations of the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry, in its final findings, the Revenue Department has now imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty of $2.592 per kg, on all exporters of Analgin from China.

In the case of Taiwan, a definitive anti-dumping duty of $2.860 per kg has been imposed on all Analgin exporters from the country.

The definitive anti-dumping duty would also be applicable on products similar to Analgin, such as Dipyrone, Metamizole and Methampyrone and it would be applicable from April 9 the date of imposition of provisional duty.
