K.R. Srivats

NEW DELHI, May 1

THE Finance Ministry has extended the imposition of anti-dumping duty on Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) imports from Japan by another six months.

The existing levy of anti-dumping duty was to lapse on May 13, 2001. Following a ``requisition'' by the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry for further extension of the imposition of anti-dumping duty by six months, the Revenue Department has n ow held that the definitive anti-dumping duty on NBR imports from Japan would be applicable until November 13, 2001.

The Designated Authority had in October 2000 initiated ``Sunset Review'' investigation to review the need for continued imposition of anti-dumping duty on NBR imports from Japan. NBR is a synthetic rubber used in the manufacture of rubber articles like h oses and gaskets.
