Sundram Fastners wins GM award again in 2000

NEW DELHI, May 1
SUNDRAM Fastners Ltd, the Chennai-based automotive components manufacturer, has won the General Motors Corporation's `Supplier of the year' award for the fifth consecutive year for calender 2000.
The award has been given for the company's superior performance in quality, service, technology and price. Sundram Fastners supplies radiator caps to 27 General Motors' plants located worldwide. The company has so far supplied over 30 million radiator ca
ps to GM's overseas operations.
The radiator caps supplied by Sundram Fastners matched GM's standards in terms of technology, quality and price. The company was among the 165 suppliers selected from 19 countries across the globe to receive GM's award.
Quoting Mr Suresh Krishna, Chairman and Managing Director, Sundram Fastners, an official statement said that the company will endeavour to remain at the top and continue to supply quality products to customers in a globally competitive environment in the
years to come.
The statement also said that the supplier of the year award began as a global programme in 1992. Award winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics in GM, the company has added.
