GDR Software plans foray into US -- To focus on Internet consultancy
Vishwanath Kulkarni
BANGALORE, Nov. 22
THE Bangalore-based GDR Software is planning to offer on-site consultancy services for the Internet space in the US market from early next year.
The company hopes to put in place a 50-member consultants team by June, 2001, said Mr N. Shankar, Director (Marketing), GDR Software.
By offering consultancy services, GDR aims to consolidate its presence in the US market. The company already has a marketing presence in the US and has a office in New Jersey.
Its focus areas include GIS, e-commerce and custom solutions and product development. It hopes to earn a revenue of about $500,000 per month from its consultancy division alone from July next year.
The company is also contemplating a competency centre for automotive design engineering in Bangalore, Mr Shankar said.
It plans to invest close to Rs 1 crore and set up a small team of 10 professionals for the auto competency centre, expected to be operational by March 2001. ``The investments will be from the internal accruals,'' he said.
``We see a lot of scope for value-added services in the auto-design segment and setting up of a competency centre would be a natural extension of our CAD/CAM services,'' Mr Shankar added.
The company has also set up a competence centre for SPATIALinfo Australia to handle software testing and QA/QC activities related to SPATIALinfo products.
The Australia-based SPATIALinfo is a worldwide provider of GIS solutions with operations in the US.
GDR plans to market SPATIALinfo GIS products and solutions to utilities in the Indian and the Middle East markets.
The company, which achieved a 600 per cent growth in turnover for the year ended June 30 at Rs 6.03 crore, is eyeing a revenue of Rs 15 crore for the current year and Rs 40-50 crore for next year.
