NTC unit workers plan stir

COIMBATORE, Nov. 22
WORKERS employed in the National Textile Corporation (NTC)-owned textile units in Coimbatore are to observe a one-day strike on December 8 to press their charter of demands.
The decision was taken by the Joint Action Committee of major textile trade unions in their district-level meeting held here on Wednesday.
The demands of the workers include implementation of the bonus settlement (for 1999-2000) as agreed upon before the State Labour Department, lifting the lay-offs imposed in some units and assured job for minimum 26 days in a month in the respective NTC u
nits.
