And now dot-toons

Preeti Mehra

One thing is for certain -- dotcoms are in no dearth of ideas. Here's one that has started the country's first cartoon channel and had it launched last week by none other than the creative-thinking guru, Edward de Bono.

123India.com's new channel plans not only to have the usual cartoons based on news, business and politics, but also intends to cover a spectrum of topical topics with special focus on the Indian scenario.

And with the economic scene on the move in the country, they naturally have a daily management cartoon targeted at corporate executives, titled `Under the Pyramid', which comments on management concepts and practices in the corporate world. Apart from th is, there's the news-based `Counterpoint', `Editoon', a weekly opinion cartoon, and `Caritoons', which features caricatures of personalities in the news.

Behind all these toons is cartoonist Priya Raj who is excited about an exclusive cartoon channel on news, business and politics. Speaking on the launch, de Bono hit the nail on the head when he said, ``Humour is by far the most significant phenomenon in the human mind and one of the very few ways we have of changing perceptions.''
