Wipro launches e-com services in India

MUMBAI, Aug. 28
WIPRO Infotech has announced the launch of its e-commerce services in India which will include consulting, sustenance, project management and implementation, in both application build and package application approaches.
The e-commerce services will focus on content management, portal development and sales applications in the B2C area, and on sell side applications such as e-ordering, EDI implementations and back end integration in the B2B area.
``As part of the package application approach, we are offering a scalable and componentised, end-to-end e-commerce solutions package, `Portal-in-a-Box','' Mr. Rajat Mathur said.
Priced between Rs. 75 lakh and Rs. 80 lakh, Portal-in-the-box is aimed at start-up B2C and B2B companies who want an Internet presence, Mr.Mathur added.
The package offers all the essential IT hooks such as logistics services, payment gateways and collocation services which are needed to leverage the Web for sales, he said.
Wipro has tied up with Elbee and HDFC Bank for logistics and payment services.
System study and consulting, project management and implementation, sustenance services and infrastructure components are the other features of the package.
``We expect to gross a revenue of Rs. 20 crores from the e-commerce area in the first of year of operation itself. The e-commerce solutions market in India is currently valued between Rs. 90 crores and Rs. 100 crores and Wipro is looking at a 22 per cent
share of this market.''
He also said: ``Our strong point will be the international experience, with 1,000 people in implementing e-commerce projects through Wipro Technologies.''
Mr. Mathur added: ``A component of Wipro WebSecure, an application security framework, which has been incorporated in Portal-in-a-box, will be our USP.
``This component offers complete security, right from the infrastructure level to the application level and provides a secure platform for online transactions.''
