Heavy trading witnessed in Tata Engg scrip

MUMBAI, Aug. 28

THE stock of Tata Engineering & Locomotive Co Ltd (Tata Engineering) saw sizable transactions on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today.

The total volume at the day's end was 34,25,270 shares, spread over 10,911 trades for an aggregate value of Rs. 34.86 crores. Senior Tata Engineering officials maintained that the activity on the bourses was ``speculative''.

The transactions in the company's stock, made amidst a 21-point decline in the BSE Sensex, helped the share breach the Rs. 100-mark to close at Rs. 104.25.

Similar huge trading on August 1, involving a volume of 21,67,156 shares, had seen the stock dipping below the Rs. 100 level to close at Rs. 93.35.
