CHENNAI, Aug. 28
The Shriram Group, in association with CGM Printshop Pvt Ltd of Sri Lanka, has formed a new company -- CGM Shriram India Pvt. Ltd. The new company will open business opportunities through a franchisee network to be set up in India and abroad.
CGM Printshop is a joint venture between Ceylinco Consolidated, Sri Lanka, and Gestetner of Ceylon Ltd, Sri Lanka.
The company plans to launch a number of express printshops and copyshops. To begin with, an `express print shop' using digital printing technology was opened in Chennai on Monday.
The express print shop will require lower capital investment compared to traditional `offset' printing and will be capable of high-speed printing using equipment developed by Gestetner, Mr. Lalith Kotelawala, Chairman, Ceylinco Group, Sri Lanka, told rep
orters here.
The franchisee print shops have proved to be a success in most of the European countries, and in some Asian regions, including Sri Lanka, where over 40 centres were opened in the last few months, he said.
Mr. R. Thygarajan, Chairman, Shriram Group, said that in one year, around 20 franchisees would come up over all over the country. The investment might be small, but the concept offered good potential, he said.
Meanwhile, Ceylinco Consolidated of Sri Lanka today announced the launch of eCeylinco.com, an e-trading hub which facilitates B2B trading such as outsourcing, procurement and payment on the Net in India.
The site will bring together a virtual community of buyers, manufacturers and suppliers with diverse range of interests from all over the world, Mr. Kotelawala told reporters.
The features in the site include buyer and merchant matching, directory service, promotional and marketing facilities and a message handling gateway, he said.
eCeylinco has a strategic partnership with Tpage.com, a Korean B2B site, through which eCeylinco.com has access to database in over 100 countries, he said.
Ceylinco Consolidated was the first Sri Lankan company to be awarded by Multimedia Development Corporation in Malaysia for the concept of an e-trading hub, he added.
