Sigma Corp sets up rubber parts plant

NEW DELHI, Aug. 28
SIGMA Corporation (India) Ltd (SCIL), a manufacturer and exporter of automobile rubber parts, has set up a new auto parts manufacturing plant at Bhondsi in Gurgaon, near the Capital, at a total cost of Rs. 15 crores.
A company release said that the plant had been set up in a 80,000-square feet covered area for the manufacture of anti-vibration rubber parts for various vehicles. Production at the plant has already commenced and the whole product is expected to be expo
rted.
SCIL is currently the largest manufacturer and exporter of automobile anti-vibration mounts and rubber parts, air-brake systems and sheet metal components from the country.
It has a joint venture with Phoenix AG of Germany, for the manufacture and export of anti-vibration rubber parts for automobiles as well as heavy commercial vehicles and Railways. SCIL has also recently signed a joint venture agreement with Freudenberg o
f Germany and NOK of Japan, global majors in the field of automobile components.
This new joint venture is expected to set up a plant in Mohali, Punjab for the manufacture of Simmerrings brand oil seals for domestic as well as global automotive and general application industry. Production would commence by mid-2001, the release said.
