Virtual ride shows reach Chennai

A Chennai-based entertainment company, Joe Jolly Thriller Pvt Ltd, has opened a ride simulation theatre in Chennai. The Rs. 1.5-crore project has 60 per cent financial assistance from the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation.
The technology used in the ride simulation is by Premier Funtech, a division of Premier Irrigation Equipment Ltd. The hydraulic simulator used at Joe Thriller is manufactured by Premier Infotech under licence from Flight Avionics Ltd, UK, which has suppl
ied the control system hardware, software and motion programme system.
Joe Thriller has technological arrangement with Motionbase Plc, a leading manufacturer of high technology electric motion platforms, control systems and dedicated simulators for both amusement and professional training.
The ride simulation is an experience in virtual reality. This hi-tech simulation amusement is one where simulation ride is provided by synchronising the physical movement of viewers using a motion base with visual and audio medium.
The ride activity involves experiencing movement, sound and visual image, all coordinated with what is depicted on the screen to produce the effect of reality. This form of thriller entertainment is a non-cinema/non-film digitally mixed computer generate
d image screened with simulated motion seats.
The motion seats are stepped and staggered to ensure the best view from each seat. The seats are coordinated with the screen by computers which are mounted on a hydraulically and electrically operated platform.
The ride has a surround sound system using six discreetly driven speakers including two sub-woofers. Tropicalised cinema standard screen for monitoring on surface/frame will be extended at the fun centre.
In the event of a power failure, the capsule settles into loading or unloading position on its rest standards. An emergency stop button is also fitted to the platform and the operator who has a full view of the platform is also provided with an emergency
stop button, bucket seats with lap belts and grab handles are additional safety features.
According to Mr. J.C.D. Prabakaran, Director, Joe Jolly Thrillers Pvt Ltd, each ride would cost Rs. 50 and the ride simulation would be open between 11 am and 8 pm.
