Core group to draft report on Orissa development

NEW DELHI, Aug. 2

A CORE group under the Chairmanship of the Member, Planning Commission, Dr.D.N. Tiwari, has been set up to prepare the Orissa Development Report.

An official release said Dr. S.S. Meenakshisundaram, Adviser, State Plan, and Mr. Priyabrata Patnaik, Special Secretary to the Government of Orissa's Planning and Coordination Department, would be the members of the core group, which would also have repr esentatives of partner institutions/agencies/consultants.

The group is expected to submit its report to the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission before the end of the financial year 2000-01. The Plan panel has moved to take up similar study groups in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh , Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra and West Bengal during the next fiscal.

The core group on Uttar Pradesh has already been set up under the Chairmanship of Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Member, Planning Commission.
