No move to discontinue paddy purchases
THERE is no move by the Government to shift `overnight' to a 100-per cent levy system of rice procurement for the Central pool during the 2000-01 kharif marketing season, beginning October.

Wool imports may touch 25.5 mkg
THE country's wool imports from Australia are estimated to be a record 25.5 million kg (mkg) during the 1999-2000 (July-June) season, up by nine per cent from the previous season's 23.3 mkg. In the July to April period, imports increased by 16 per cent t o 22.5 mkg from 19.3 mkg a year ago.

Gosstandard quality norms awaited -- Exporters' drive to check poor teas entering Russia
GOSSTANDARD, the Russian agency for standards, is currently working on upgradation of tea quality norms for the internal market and the expectation of Indian exporters is that the entry of poor quality tea in Russia will be substantially checked when Gos standard norms are brought into effect.
