HPCL quarterly net falls to Rs 200.63 crores
MUMBAI: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has recorded a fall in net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2000 at Rs 200.63 crores. Profit for the same period the previous year was Rs 230.12 crores.

Alps sales up
NEW DELHI: Alps Industries Ltd, known for its Vista Levolor brand of blinds, awnings and curtain rods, has logged a turnover of Rs. 27.10 crores in the first quarter ending June 30, 2000, an increase of 24.77 per cent over Rs. 21.72 crores registered in the corresponding period last fiscal.

Hyundai's July sales up
HYUNDAI Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company and the second largest car manufacturer in the country, has recorded total sales of 7,265 units in July this year, representing an increase of 19 per cent over the sales achieved in the previous month.

Whirlpool Q2 PAT at Rs. 16.75 cr
NEW DELHI: Buoyed by an increase in demand for white goods during the year, Whirlpool of India Ltd, the subsidiary of Whirlpool Corporation of the US, has ended the second quarter (April-June 2000) with a net profit of Rs. 16.75 crores against Rs. 6.65 c rores registered during the same period in fiscal 1999.

Universal Print Systems net up 180 per cent
CHENNAI: Universal Print Systems Ltd has reported net profit after tax of Rs. 52.02 lakhs on net sales of Rs. 4.59 crores for the quarter ended June 30, 2000, according to a company press release.

Monalisa Infotech to hive off plastics unit
MONALISA Infotech Ltd (MIL), formerly Monalisa Multiplast Ltd, has decided to hive off its plastics processing division into a separate company. The MIL board decided, on July 31, to demerge the 4,800-tpa plastics processing unit in Daman and appointed P ricewaterhouseCoopers for the purpose of evaluation.

SIGMA Corporation (India) Ltd (SCIL) has tied-up with Freudenberg of Germany and NOK of Japan to set up a new joint venture company - Sigma Freudenberg NOK - at Mohali in Punjab. The new company is expected to manufacture simmerrings, damper seals and va lve stem seals for domestic as well as global automotive and general application industry.

ICICI directed to modify report on Bengal Lamps
ICICI has been directed by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) to modify its report on the rehabilitation of Bengal Lamps Ltd (BLL) by taking the cut-off date for the scheme as December 31, 2000 and keeping appropriate provision for start-up expenses etc, as the unit has been lying closed since long.

NEW DELHI: Usha International Ltd, a Siddharth Shriram group company, has registered a net profit of Rs. 1.09 crores during the first quarter (April-June 2000) against Rs. 89 lakhs registered during the corresponding period the previous year.

NEW DELHI: National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has synchronised the 144 MW steam turbine unit of the 430 MW Faridabad power project on July 31.
