SC quashes NC ruling on liability of carrier
THERE did arise a controversy between the consignor and the carrier whether there was any special agreement between them which would have the effect of restricting the liability of the carrier in carrying the goods in question to Mumbai for delivery to J eena & Co.

Chennai port `not hit by pilots strike'
THE Chennai Port Trust (ChPT) pilots are on strike from Saturday afternoon protesting the induction of contract pilots by the port trust. The strike, however, has not affected berthing and deberthing of vessels, according to officials.

THE Hyundai-Hindustan Construction Corporation (Hyundai-HCC) joint venture has bagged the contract for constructing a cable-stayed bridge across the river Yamuna on NH-27 in Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs. 294.7 crores.

LPG bulk movement in the southern region was affected for the third day on Monday, following an indefinite strike called by the Southern Region Bulk LPG Transport Owners Association.

Chennai port cuts wharfage for cars
The Chennai Port Trust has reduced the wharfage charges for handling cars at the port. It has fixed wharfage at 0.40 per cent of FOB (free on board).
