General Motors trains sights on Gujarat
GENERAL Motors India Ltd (GMI) is looking at Gujarat as its focus area to make a major price impact with its newly launched Opel Corsa. GMI has decided to use the sales tax umbrella offered by the Gujarat Government by passing on the entire benefit to th e customers in the State.

ICRA reaffirms ratings of Rane (Madras) NCD, FD
INVESTMENT Information and Credit Rating Agency (ICRA) has reaffirmed the ratings for the non-convertible debenture (NCD) and fixed deposit programmes of Rane (Madras) Ltd (RML) at `LA' and `MA+' respectively. The ratings indicate adequate safety.

SEBI action against erring brokers
THE Securities and Exchange Board of India has cancelled the registration of Ms. Swarn Munjal, a member of the Delhi Stock Exchange, with immediate effect. The registration has been cancelled for the member being engaged in fund-based activities and ther eby defrauding the investors.

Matsushita to import microwave ovens
MATSUSHITA Electric of Japan also is making a foray into the microwave oven business in India. Test-marketing of some of its models will begin this week and the products are formally expected to hit the market during the middle of the year.
